Omexom leaves them in awe at Little Green Expo

Omexom New Zealand was delighted to participate in and support the Little Green Expo for a fourth year, hosted by Waiuku Zero Waste and Community Networks Franklin. On 15th March 2025, a day dedicated to sustainability and environmental awareness,
Omexom showcased its commitment to building low-carbon energy sources, as the world transitions away from fossil fuels. The event highlighted the company’s efforts to reduce its own carbon footprint, demonstrating leadership in the green energy space with a presentation on our sustainability and community initiatives. There was also the always popular free sausage sizzle provided by Omexom.
Attendees learned about Auckland Council’s food scraps scheme by EcoGas, which showcased the impressive biogas production at the EcoGas plant in Reporoa, emphasising the importance of waste-to-energy initiatives. A screening of the “Climate Commons” documentary, created by Hamilton resident Sija Soman, began with the 2023 floods and Cyclone Gabrielle, exploring collective climate action and the steps communities can take to mitigate climate change.
Additionally, EcoQuest presented its efforts to find and protect Franklin’s long-tailed bats, underscoring the belief that true sustainability can only be achieved by considering the natural environment, people, and their culture, as well as socio-political and economic realities.
