Omexom shares Matariki with CSR partner school

In June, we had the joy of hosting Panama Road School at the Omexom New Zealand Head Office in Mt. Wellington for a special Matariki celebration.  This school is one of the valued partners we support through our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programme, and it was a privilege to share this meaningful occasion with them.

Around 20 enthusiastic students from Panama Road School performed a powerful and moving Kapa Haka for our staff.  Their performance was filled with pride and energy, and it truly brought the spirit of Matariki into our workplace.

What made the event even more special was how interactive it became.  A teacher, along with the students, invited those present to join in learning and singing a Matariki waiata (song).  With their guidance, we all sang together and did the actions, creating a beautiful moment of shared celebration.  It was a fun experience that many of us will remember for a long time.

After the performance and song, we enjoyed a relaxed morning tea together.  It was a great opportunity for our staff to connect with the students and teachers, and to reflect on the values of Matariki — whānau (family), kotahitanga (togetherness), and aroha (love and respect).

As a small gesture of thanks, we gave gifts to the children to show our appreciation for their time, effort, and the joy and energy they’ve brought to our office.

We’re incredibly grateful to Panama Road School for joining us and helping us celebrate Matariki in such a meaningful way.
